WELCOME TO THE LABYRINTH!! When was the last time you saw that phrase? Has it been over 30 years or have you tried playing Madness and the Minotaur in some sort of Color Computer emulator? Now with the project you have in your hands, you will be able to play your favorite game of yore right on your very own Linux box! No fuss, no mess - it's even easier to use than the original! Usage couldn't be any easier. After untarring, simply run the resulting binary named "madness". Why is the binary named madness & not minotaur you ask? That was how I distinguished the original (minotaur) from this version. You can rename it to anything you like. If you prefer, you can also build the game from the sources. The sources are in x86 assembly, AT&T style, so you will need the GAS assembler, linker & make. Chances are you already have these installed on your computer, but if not, you will need to install them first. The build is near instantaneous, so there will be no waiting around. Simply execute "make" to build a pure, unmodified version of madness as close to the original as possible. Execute a "make mods" if you would like some custom mods built into the binary. If you choose this version, take a look at the README-MODS file for an explanation of the various mods. Whichever version you choose, you can read a slightly modified version of the original manual in the MADNESS-MANUAL file. For those interested in the sources, have a look at the README-SOURCE file.
